Epic and Bucket List are two phrases that I don’t really like.
Epic because it’s so overused and suggests exaggerated drama, and bucket list, because I literally don’t understand what a bucket has to do with accomplishing your hopes and dreams in a lifetime. Before you say, ‘Simmmm, don’t be so precious…it’s a list of things to do before you kick the bucket’….I don’t get that expression either.
I was going to get through this post without using epic or bucket list but because those words have been so firmly attached to this recent announcement, I’ve decided to surrender and just dish it out to you in epic proportions.
Are you ready?
Have you ever heard of Travel + Leisure?
Travel + Leisure is a magazine specialising in holiday travel, often featuring articles written by novelists, poets, artists, designers and top notch travel journalists, rivalled only by Condé Nast and National Geographic Traveler.
It is not only an inspiring read but it’s also visually stunning, giving the reader an inside look at the world of luxury tourism.
Every year, the readers of T+L, weigh in on travel experiences around the globe, as part of their World’s Best Awards survey. These hotels are invariably located in far away, magical destinations, more often than not, claiming a spot on the world traveller’s bucket list.
A few weeks ago, the results were released!
Drum roll, please! This is where you come in….potentially….
At the very top of the World’s No. 1 Hotel in The World is Nihiwatu Resort, Sumba Island.
NIHI WHAT-WHAT, you say?
Nihiwatu Resort is the idyllic, pristine resort, located on the island of Sumba in the far-eastern end of the vast Indonesian archipelago.
In 2015, I spent a few months at NIHI consulting as wine trainer and raw food chef in residence, during which time, the management team asked me if I would be interested in hosting a first class food, wine and adventure retreat like no other.
“But, of course.”, I said.
Is it going to be epic? You betcha!
Is it a bucket list experience? No! It’s a one off opportunity offered this year only.
It’s now or never as there is a snowflake’s chance that this will ever be offered again at this price. It is in fact a smidgeon of what you would pay as a regular guest for a four night stay.
If Nihiwatu Resort, Sumba Island, is indeed on your bucket list for 2017 and beyond, then room rates are going up significantly after this year.
I have hand-picked every wine label and if you have been following me for a while, you know how much I enjoy great wine and live by a no-plonk-policy so guests can expect the best from France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and the U.S.
If you like the sound of swimming in the blue lagoon under a waterfall likened to Tolkien’s Middle Earth, hiking through rice paddies to enjoy a day of massage and pampering on a cliff top or riding along the beach during sunset with Nihi’s very own Horse Whisperer, then this once in a life time experience is for you.
We have four king size bed villas available for our retreat guests and with the recent gong as the World’s No.1 Hotel, NIHI has received a frenzy of reservation requests so, grab your favourite person and get in fast as we can only accommodate up to 8 people / 1 couple per villa for this four night luxury escape.
But first, get a taste of what NIHI is all about in this 50 second video.
Your epic-bucket-list experience awaits,
